Brookline Memorial Day Parade – 5.30.2011

May 30, 2011 6 comments

It’s been a few years since I took my camera up to the Memorial Day Parade. I haven’t felt terribly inspired to do so for a while. However, this morning I had an idea of an image I was hoping to capture, so I broke out the D300 and 80-200mm zoom and headed on out in the heat. As it turns out, I was able to get exactly what I had pictured in my head. And here it is:

Drumline

Being a drummer in ‘a previous life’, this image holds special meaning for me. I am so happy that it turned out the way I wanted it to.

Here are a few more from the parade…

As anyone close to me knows, I have this odd photographic fetish of loving to take pictures of people taking pictures. So when this opportunity arose, I didn’t hesitate to grab it!

Thank you to all our service men and women. Your sacrifice is not forgot and is greatly appreciated. Happy Memorial Day everyone

Lightning – 5.14.2011

Since the weather around the Pittsburgh area seems to be 90% rain and thunderstorms, I think I’m going to start embracing it, rather than becoming depressed by it. I LOVE to catch lightning in photographs.

Last night I think I missed the bulk of the action, but I did manage to capture one cool bolt over Brookline!

Going forward, I’m going to try to grab my camera and really start refining my skills at lightning images. I look forward to posting more soon!
